Aileen McColm

After graduating from Food & Consumer Science at Abertay University in 2020, I joined Browns Food Group as a Graduate Food Technologist working on Group Supplier Approval.

This role allowed me not only to work with but also see the many different sites within the Browns Group. This multi-faceted learning experience greatly assisted my entry into the business and food manufacturing. This experience was something I greatly valued, being so new to the industry.

Approximately 12 months later I became a Food Technologist based full-time at the Brown Brothers site in Kirkconnel, where I am now responsible for managing the site’s Allergen & Species control and have also become part of the validation team on site.

In order to further my knowledge and to support my ongoing learning, I received great support from the Technical team here throughout my time on site. During my ‘training journey’, the team have ensured that I have received a variety of opportunities in which to learn and develop; both professionally and personally.

I am looking forward to continuing my career here at Browns and seeing what the future holds!
